Senior Travel: Allowing Traveling Crazy Fun over 60!

I always have had a deep admiration for older adults (the majority of them). I have previously elaborated on the importance of redefining the commonly labeled “Senior” category and how our generation is increasingly embracing travel (it is highly recommended to read this either before or after reading this post).

Many reasons to travel when you are an experiential over 60

The older generation, aged 60, 70, and 80 plus, may not be well-represented in the travel industry, but they are a group that loves to have fun and explore new places. As of 2023, baby boomers are 75 years old, and half are already planning their next adventure.

Regardless of whether you are retired or not, there is always a reason why traveling over 60

1-Travel in a group

Do you think going out in groups was for high school or college-age? Nope, you can travel in a group because people are less tied up! Yes, you can go out with the girls and even take the chairs and the hats with you to the beach, why? No worries about getting a sunburn and there is no need to sit on the sand and struggle to get back up after a few drinks!

2- Getting that romance all over again!

Oh yes, either to keep the romance alive or to find someone new. People fall in love at all ages, and some older and wiser individuals say that there isn’t really only one love in your life. Is it true? 😉

3- Playing sports and fitness activities

Some think that when you get older, you sit on a chair and stare. Well, there is nothing further from the truth! Some still have that great spunk and power to play with their peers… and look fantastic, by the way!

4- Laying out in the sun with friends

We know by now the dangers of UV rays and the need to wear SPF and be aware of peak hours. However, the sun is also a great source of vitamin D, and for many, being under the sun feels amazing. Always do it with caution.

5- Playing cards and games

Playing cards has many benefits, social benefits, cognitive benefits and mental health benefits. Need I say more?

6- Playing an instrument and for some even keep performing live!

Stand up, play an instrument or sing, act, paint, anything you like to do. Even if it’s not for pay, do it if you feel like it. There is no age for talent!

7- Keep doing business wherever you go

Doing business when you retire is more of a passion than a business. In this case, I asked Carlo in Sicily how long he had been working, and he replied, “I don’t want to stop. I travel around and meet lots of people.” If it allows for travel and socializing, why not? Carlo spent his time selling his goods while traveling around Southern Italy. Need I say more?!

8- Getting a tattoo or refreshing one!

Why not! Is there a symbol you like? A good memory you want to have forever? Well, nobody can tell you not to do it, and it looks great also!

9- Be off limits! Wear that outfit and know you look amazing!

This is certainly the time to wear everything you have and take those garments with you on your trip!

10- Dance!! just dance!

Wherever you are, move! Even if it’s just your arms, do it! It pumps blood all around your body, helps your heartbeat, and keeps the immune system up to speed. You don’t have to be a professional dancer to move.

11- Take a We-Pic with your friends

At this point, we know the power of community, friends family, and their importance in our lives. Taking a picture with others seals that moment of fun, but I guess friends here were out! so Mr. Handsome took the selfie:-)
